Early dyslexia assessment helps children
Professional assessment helps with LEA recognition
Dyslexic children benefit from early assessment of their difficulties, with recommendations for extra help and remedial activities carefully tailored to their individual needs.
Teenagers, students and adult learners with such difficulties may be eligible for examination concessions. These may include the provision of extra time, a reader, a scribe or the use of a PC to complete written examinations.
In some cases Local Education Authorities are able to award a Disabled Students Allowance to cover expenses such as the provision of IT equipment or specialist learning support.
Parents may find themselves in dispute with the LEA over matters of provision. In such cases having a professional assessment enables them to deal effectively with the authorities.
